Introduction
Prism is an iOS and iPadOS color discovery and palette app built by Jesse Rubio. This Privacy Policy explains how Prism handles information when you discover palettes, extract colors from photos, use the camera, generate palettes, save moments, make purchases, or view content from third-party services.
Plain English: Prism is designed around color creation, not user accounts. Prism does not require names, email addresses, login credentials, or profile information to use the app.
Information Prism processes
- Palette data you create, including colors, names, notes, saved moments, harmony selections, and palette preferences.
- Photos or camera frames you choose to use for color extraction.
- Generated palette prompts you enter, such as ideas, moods, places, or feelings.
- Purchase status for Prism Pro subscriptions, Remove Ads purchases, or other in-app purchases.
- Advertising-related information if ads are shown in the free version.
- Support information you voluntarily send by email.
Prism does not currently require user accounts, login, names, email addresses, or profile information.
Camera access
Prism may request camera access so you can capture color from the world around you in real time. Camera access is controlled by iOS and iPadOS permissions. You can grant or revoke camera permission in Settings.
Camera input and live color extraction are processed on your device. Camera frames used for color extraction are not uploaded to a Prism backend.
Photo Library access
Prism may request Photo Library access so you can choose images for palette extraction or saved moments. Photo Library access is controlled by iOS and iPadOS permissions, including limited library access when supported by the system.
Photos you select for color extraction are processed locally on your device. They are not uploaded to a Prism backend for palette extraction.
Locally saved palettes and moments
Prism lets you save palettes and moments. Saved palettes and moments are currently stored locally on your device. Prism does not currently use Supabase, Firebase, or a Prism backend to store your saved library.
If you delete Prism, clear app data, or change devices, locally stored content may be removed unless a future version adds a completed sync feature. iCloud Sync has been discussed as a possible future Prism Pro feature, but it is not currently implemented.
Generated palette prompts
Prism can generate palettes from user-entered ideas, moods, places, objects, or feelings. The current website repository does not include the Prism app source or backend configuration needed to verify whether generated palette prompts are processed entirely on device or sent to an external API.
If the production app uses an external generation service, the prompt you enter may be sent to that service to return generated palette results. This policy should be updated with the provider name and data handling details once the generation implementation is verified.
Advertising
The free version of Prism may display advertising, and Prism may offer a Remove Ads purchase. Advertising providers may process device identifiers, advertising identifiers, ad interaction data, and other information governed by their own privacy policies and your device settings.
The current website repository does not verify which advertising SDK or provider is integrated. If Prism uses Google AdMob or another ad provider in the app binary, that provider's advertising and privacy terms apply. Tracking and advertising disclosures should be confirmed from the actual ad SDK configuration.
In-app purchases and subscriptions
Prism may offer Prism Pro subscriptions, Remove Ads purchases, and other in-app purchases. Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store using Apple's StoreKit and App Store infrastructure. Jesse Rubio does not directly receive or store your full payment card details.
Prism may use transaction, entitlement, product, and purchase status information from Apple to unlock paid features, restore purchases, remove ads, and manage subscription access. Any locally stored purchase state should match the app's StoreKit implementation.
Third-party services
- Apple / StoreKit: Used for App Store purchases, subscriptions, cancellation, and Restore Purchases.
- Unsplash: Prism uses Unsplash imagery or content for discovery and inspiration and may display photographer or Unsplash attribution. Unsplash content may be loaded from Unsplash or related endpoints, subject to Unsplash's terms and privacy practices.
- Advertising providers: The free version may use advertising services. The specific ad SDK and its tracking configuration should be confirmed from the app project before final App Store privacy disclosures are submitted.
- Palette generation providers: If the Generate feature uses an external API, that provider should be listed here after verification.
- Analytics or crash reporting: No analytics or crash reporting SDK has been identified from the website repository. If Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Sentry, PostHog, or a similar tool is added in the app project, it should be disclosed here and in App Store privacy details.
Data retention
Locally saved palettes and moments remain on your device until you delete them, delete Prism, or clear the app's data. Support emails are retained as needed to respond to your request and maintain support records.
Identity, location, and tracking
Prism itself does not currently require an account identity, so user-created palettes, selected photos, and locally saved moments are not linked to a Prism account. No location collection by Prism has been established.
Device identifiers, advertising identifiers, diagnostics, usage data, and tracking across apps or websites depend on the advertising, analytics, crash reporting, and generation SDKs actually included in the production app. These disclosures should be verified from the app project and provider configurations before final submission to App Store Connect.
Children's privacy
Prism is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a support request, contact support so it can be reviewed.
Security
Prism uses platform-provided iOS and iPadOS controls for permissions and local app storage. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but reasonable steps are taken to protect the app experience.
Your choices
- Manage Camera and Photo Library permissions in iOS or iPadOS Settings.
- Delete saved palettes or moments in the app where supported.
- Manage subscriptions and purchases through Apple.
- Adjust advertising personalization options in device settings.
- Contact support with privacy questions.
Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as Prism changes. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are made.
